Duleep Trophy is a national first-class game of cricket held in India. Originally played by teams representing geographical regions of India. Current Season
After two seasons, the Duleep Trophy has returned to Indian cricket and was held on September 8, 2022, in various locations around the nation. Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the competition could not be contested in the 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 seasons. Now after the COVID-19 crisis has been resolved, the BCCI hosted an exciting domestic season that included two Irani Cups.
The 60th edition of this first-class cricket competition, was announced by the BCCI in April 2023, and took place between June 28th to July 16th, 2023. The winner was South zone, triumph over West zone by 75 runs. This final was a copy of the previous edition of the competition, though in the previous one, West zone came on top by 294 runs to win South zone.

Previous Seasons
The 2022-2023 season of the Duleep Trophy was a star-studded event with numerous top players that competed in the competition. West Zone, coached by Ajinkya Rahane, played North East Zone in the opening round. In the second quarterfinal, North Zone played against East Zone simultaneously. The victor of these games advanced to the semifinals where the two teams played against each other which were Central Zone & South Zone.
The two quarterfinal contests took place between September 8 and September 11. September 15 to September 18 had seen the two semifinal matches. The renowned tournament's final game was contested in Coimbatore from September 21 to September 25, 2022. This was the 59th Duleep Trophy competition in India. There was a total of six teams included which were the North Zone, East Zone, South Zone, Central Zone, West Zone, and Northeast Zone.

Just six of the 59 Duleep Trophy competitions have been determined by round-robin standings; the other fifty-nine have been decided by finals. West Zone won the first competition and also holds the record for most Duleep Trophy victories with 19 victories. North Zone, who have already won the Duleep Trophy 18 times, is next in line. North Zone has made it to the final 26 times, while West Zone has made it there 34 times. Nonetheless, after a tie, both teams have also split the trophy with various teams at least once. West Zone as well as North Zone each have one shared prize.
The next-most successful squad in the Duleep Trophy is South Zone, which has split the trophy twice. They won the competition 13 times as well as finished the second 11 times. Central Zone has won the competition 6 times in 16 finals games. History & Structure
India's domestic cricket competition is known as the Duleep Trophy and was established in memory of Kumar Shri Duleepsinghji. The competition is held among India's many geographical regions. The competition was introduced in 1961–1962, by the BCCI. Indian-born Kumar Duleepsinghji Jadeja performed for England from 1905 until 1959. He was born in Gujarat. He participated in test matches plus first-class games in England as a right-handed batter and right-armed leg-break bowler. The BCCI decided to launch this competition in India in his honor after the famous batsman passed away in 1959.
The event features five teams from the North, Central, East, West, and South zones. The five clubs competed against one another in a knockout stage under the competition's initial structure, but from the 1993–94 season, it adopted a league system. The five zonal teams' new names for the 2002–03 season were Elite B, Elite Q, Elite C, Plate A, and Plate B. These designations corresponded to the Elite & Plate divisions that the Ranji Trophy inaugurated the same year. The names were changed back to their previous form for the next season due to the confusion this new format had caused. Five new teams took the place of the zonal teams for the 2002–03 season. This system only lasted for one season due to the perception that the new teams lacked personality. These teams were built from the new Elite Group as well as Plate Group divisions that had been implemented into the Ranji Trophy that season.
The 5 zonal teams plus a sixth team, England A, competed against one another in the 2003–04 season. The first visiting foreign team to be accepted as a guest squad in the Duleep Trophy Competition was England A. The original five-team elimination competition was utilized until the 2014–15 season after the visitor team was dropped in 2008. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI participated in the Tournament as a guest squad in 2004–2005. In 2006–07, the Zimbabwe Cricket Union President's XI was permitted to compete, and in 2007–08, the England Lions participated as a guest team.
The Duleep Trophy was not played in 2015–16 but made a comeback in 2016–17 with a new format. Three teams, India Blue, India Green, and India Red, were selected by the BCCI selectors to compete. In a round-robin event, the teams competed, with the top 2 moving on to the final, which has been won by India Blue. All games in the competition, which took place at the beginning of the season, were played day and night.
